Observation - September 5th, 2020, Saturday

The long September sunlight reflects off the sandstone and red brick of the building across the street, filtering back through the green leaves of the maple outside my window.

The window is open; there is traffic on Bryant and a rhythm to the sound of tires on pavement, as car after car rolls by; Kitty is sleeping on the ledge by the sill, curled up on her side.

I see patches of blue sky through the limbs of the tree.

The air in the apartment is cool.

There scent of cinnamon and cloves lingers in the air, I made eggrolls.

Observation - September 4th, 2019, Wednesday

Kitty is speaking to me

She wants to know where her taste of butter is

Her meow is simultaneously a question and a complaint

She moves of her perch by the window

Crosses the carpet to where I sit at my desk

She nudges me, to get me up

To go to the kitchen and lift the lid on the dish where

The stick of soft butter rests

Dab my finger into it and return

She has taken her spot on the arm of the couch

The place she receives her daily treats

She is speaking to me

It took you long enough is what I hear in her meow

She licks the butter from my finger tip

Lays down to clean her paws

Observation - September 2nd, 2017

Observation

It is cool in the house
The cool of early September, it will give way
To warmth in the day, then dissipate

There is ragweed in the air
The pollen is scratching my throat
Raking my sinuses, my head is pounding

The phlox outside my kitchen window
Bears the softest tone, a shade of matted fuchsia
Rising against the cedar fence

My cat is sleeping on her blanket
Her tawny gray head resting on her soft white paw

The streets are quiet
